NPI /Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description
Operate effectively in an early stage company environment demonstrating strong technical and communication skills. Applicants must have good electrical and mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills and project leadership/management ability.

This position requires a concurrent engineering approach to manage the transition of newly designed and re-engineered products from design through volume manufacturing. Focus on quality and cost reduction of products throughout the product development life cycle utilizing DF(x) practices. Manage products from early prototype stages through launch to production. Work closely with both the materials organization and the external CM partners to ensure on-time delivery.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and execute manufacturing build plans in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Provide Engineering with DF(x) support for circuit board assemblies.
  • Advanced understanding of Engineering Change Management processes. Must know product structuring and be able to create, modify and implement engineering changes in a fast paced high mix environment.
  • Support Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, and the Operations Quality organizations in the investigation and resolution of manufacturing and test problems during prototype, development, and production phases.
  • Coordinate Production Readiness Reviews for resolution of pre-production issues.
  • Drive cost reduction, product/process optimization and quality improvement through the use of formal and proven methodologies.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong NPI and Program Management Experience
  • DFx experience using Valor, CAM350 and CAD design/verification tools (Allegro/PADS).
  • Experience with PDM software as Arena or Agile, and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experienced with ROHS and WEEE compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers in a virtual mfg. model.
  • Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of NPI engineering
  • Knowledge of military standard
  • Understanding of quality systems including ISO9000 compliance, Statistical Process Control and the review of supplier quality metrics
